Sound Design and Layering Workflow

Phoenix uses eight engines, and you can layer up to four separate sounds at once. The time control syncs the build of all engines to the moment of impact, so a rise and its hit land together without manual alignment.

The Lo/Hi cut slider is bi-directional, which lets you shape the balance of a layered build. Four modulatable effect slots add further movement to the sound.

Vir2 Instruments says the included sounds were recorded from live sources such as pianos, strings, synths, guitars, vocals and cinematic percussion, then processed with a range of effects.

Modulation and Use with Komplete Kontrol and Maschine

The Mods page combines effects and modulators to change risers, hits and whooshes over time. Modulation sources include LFOs and step sequencers, which can control parameters such as pan and pitch.

Phoenix integrates with Komplete Kontrol and Maschine, and you can control the instrument with any NKS-compatible hardware. The library runs in Kontakt, and the standalone Kontakt Player 6 is included.
