01Overview

Oxford TransMod is built for precise control over how the attack of individual elements in a mix behaves. It can make drums hit harder, soften harsh percussive peaks and reduce the transient character of plucked or strummed sources. Sonnox positions it as a more focused, technical tool than its sibling Oxford Envolution, aimed at targeted transient work rather than broad creative reshaping. The plugin also includes harmonic enrichment and ambience control for additional shaping options.

Transient Control and Sound Shaping

TransMod lets you harden or soften attacks and transients, with changes ranging from radical to subtle. Boost or cut of up to 24 dB gives you a wide working range.

The harmonic enrichment stage adds perceived loudness, presence and punch. Sonnox states that peaks can reach up to 6 dB above digital maximum without clipping, which is useful when you want extra level without harsh distortion on the output.

Drums, Bass and Acoustic Sources

Sonnox suggests using TransMod to increase the attack of kicks and snares so they cut through dense mixes, and to reduce harsh transients on acoustic instruments to bring out sustain and warmth.

For bass, the developer recommends fine-tuning the attack so the line drives the track without getting muddy. The plugin can also increase or reduce the effect of room ambience, and its gated overdriven mode is designed to quickly produce a drum kit with that character.
