Four EQ Types in One Plugin

Oxford EQ - HDX gives you a 5-band parametric EQ with variable-slope high-pass and low-pass filters. The four EQ types each have a different sound. The Clinical type is modeled on the SSL4000 E series EQ. The Tighter cut setting is intended for removing problem frequencies. The Classic type is similar to Neve and SSL G series curves. The Wide and gentle curves are described by the developer as suited to mastering.

Sonnox says the plugin has ultra-low noise and distortion, and that all four types share the same sonic transparency. Switching between them lets you choose a character without loading a second EQ.

HDX Use and Pro Tools Compatibility

This version is an HDX plugin meant to run on the DSPs of an Avid HDX system, which keeps the load off your host processor. Sonnox states there is no difference in sound quality between the Standard and HDX versions. If you do not own an Avid HDX system, the developer recommends the native version instead.

An optional fifth EQ type, the GML Option, is available for Pro Tools HD and HDX users. It is an emulation of the GML-8200 EQ hardware unit, developed with George Massenburg for the OXF-R3 console, and it covers centre frequencies up to 26 kHz.
