OVox Vocal ReSynthesis is built around the idea that a singer's voice can drive more than the vocal track itself. The plugin combines a voice-controlled synth with classic vocoder and talkbox effects, pitch and tune processing, and arpeggiation. Waves says it can also trigger other instruments, including drums and bass, from a vocal performance. The package includes 500 presets, and the expanded view gives access to the deeper controls for building your own sounds.

Voice-Controlled Synthesis and Vocal Effects

The core of OVox is a voice-controlled synth with 8 voices and two high-resolution engines. An automatic note mapper can trigger chords, harmonies or scales from the incoming voice, so a single melodic line can become a full harmonic part.

The vocoder and talkbox effects are included alongside pitch and tune processing and arpeggiation. Together these cover the classic robotic vocal textures as well as more melodic, instrument-like results.

The plugin can convert your voice to MIDI in real time and send that MIDI to any instrument, which lets you use the vocal as a performance controller rather than only as audio.

Modulation, Built-In Effects and Workflow

Modulation sources include 9 LFO and sequencer types, ADSR, and ORS envelopes, giving you ways to move the sound over time without leaving the plugin.

Six built-in effects are available: Autopan, Chorus, Comp, Delay, Distortion and Reverb. You can run OVox as a DAW plugin or as a standalone app, and it is NKS-ready for NI Komplete Kontrol and Maschine. It is also SoundGrid-compatible for real-time live performance.
