01Overview

Oberheim DMX revisits the drum machine that shaped a generation of pop, electro and hip hop records. GForce Software has built the plugin around the original DMX sounds from 1981 and the updated sounds from around 1983, and adds the DX and Sequential Drumtraks kits with many variations. Each track gives you control over pan, pitch, decay, gain, solo and mute, plus delay and reverb sends. A master section adds a multi-mode filter, distortion and compression. Oberheim Electronics has endorsed the plugin.

Classic DMX Sounds and Sound Kits

The plugin includes the Oberheim DMX sound sets from 1981 and 1983, along with the DX and Sequential Drumtraks kits. GForce has included many alternative variations within these kits, so you can move between the vintage originals and related sounds without loading separate libraries.

If you want a starting point, the library includes over 70 MIDI files with many classic recreations of well-known beats. You can use them as they are or edit them to fit your own arrangement.

Per-Track Controls and Master Processing

Every track has its own Solo, Mute, Pan, Pitch, Decay and Gain controls, along with Delay and Reverb sends. These let you shape each drum voice separately before it reaches the mix.

The master channel adds a multi-mode filter, distortion and compressor. Use these to add depth, warmth or punch to the full drum bus. Velocity control, a GM map for your MIDI controller and MIDI Learn for programmable CC response help you play and automate the machine from your hardware or DAW.

Who It Is For

The DMX suits producers who want authentic vintage drum machine tones in a modern workflow, especially in electro, pop, hip hop and retro-styled productions. The interface is fully scalable and includes a preset browser, so it works for quick sketches as well as detailed programming.
