01Overview

AudioThing developed Latin Percussion to recreate the sound of a rare 1980s analogue drum machine built around Latin percussion. The plugin uses samples of that hardware to provide six voices: bass, low conga, high conga, bongo, claves and maracas. Each voice can be pitched, panned and mixed independently. A sequencer lets you build patterns and drag them into your DAW, making it a practical option for adding authentic Latin rhythms to a track.

Sound, Voices and Built-In Effects

Latin Percussion gives you six classic Latin sounds, so you can shape each element of the groove on its own. Bass, low conga, high conga, bongo, claves and maracas can each be pitched, panned and mixed independently.

Two effects, overdrive and reverb, let you add grit or space to the sound without loading extra plugins. The preset system includes 20 factory presets and a randomizer for quick ideas.

Sequencer and Workflow for Latin Rhythms

The built-in sequencer includes 9 factory patterns and lets you program your own. Patterns can be dragged and dropped into your DAW as MIDI, so you can edit them in your arrangement or route them to other instruments.

The plugin is available as VST3, VST2, AU and AAX, and runs on Windows and macOS. The AAX version is 64-bit only. Both the Mac and PC installers are relatively small, at about 108 MB and 70 MB.
