Nepheton 2 is built around the Roland 808-style drum sound that has shaped hip-hop, R&B, trap and dance music for decades. D16 Group describes the plugin as reproducing the 808's booming character, with each instrument emulated individually. 808 Sound Emulation and Channel Strips

Nepheton 2 emulates the 808 drum voices, with the original parameter set available along with additional controls. Each instrument has its own channel strip with a two-band parametric EQ, low-cut and high-cut filters, and a compressor with a look-ahead option. Panning and stereo spread are also available per instrument.

The cymbal generator has enhanced quality, and per-instrument mute and solo buttons affect triggering as well as the signal. Each drum can be routed to one of the two FX buses or directly to the master bus.

Sequencer, Randomizer and Workflow

The sequencer supports per-step velocity with an optional global accent boost, and per-step flam or substep articulations with editable properties. Patterns can be triggered by MIDI notes, MIDI CC or the on-screen interface.

A tap function records ideas into patterns, which can then be edited like any other pattern. The randomizer fills a pattern with drum lines based on your settings, and patterns can be exported as MIDI by drag and drop into your DAW. The factory library includes scenes, drum kits and patterns to start from.
