Multipass is built around a simple idea: treat each part of the frequency spectrum as its own processing lane. It divides the incoming signal into up to five bands, and each band can hold a separate chain of Snapin effects. Because the bands are modulated through the Kilohearts modular system, you can shape each range with envelopes, LFOs and randomization. Multipass runs as a Snapin host, so it works with the rest of the Kilohearts ecosystem and its included effects.
Multipass lets you build multiband effects from the ground up. A compressor on the low end, distortion in the mids and a reverb or rhythmic effect on the highs can all sit in one preset, each processed on its own.
Because every band takes any combination of Snapins, the range of results is wide. Kilohearts describes the architecture as open, so the effects you can design are limited mainly by the chains you put together.
Multipass ships with Kilohearts Essentials, a set of effects that can be placed in any of the up to five frequency ranges. Premium Snapins are sold separately if you want more sound design options.
The modulation section connects modulators and utilities in many combinations. You can use precise envelopes and LFOs for controlled movement, or random modulation for more unpredictable results. Kilohearts also notes that saved Multipass presets work for anyone you share them with, regardless of which Snapins they own.
