Spectral Processing and Sound Character

Most compressors work in the time domain. MSpectralDynamics performs dynamic processing in the frequency domain, so you can adjust loudness and balance frequencies across the whole spectrum without drawing band edges.

The spectral detector exposes resolution, smoothness, slope and threshold shape controls that define how the plugin analyzes the signal and how its time and spectral response behave. A custom processing shape option lets you edit the dynamic curve with the MeldaProduction Envelope System, and the integrated power spectrum analyzer shows input and output spectral dynamic profiles, gain reduction per frequency and the equalizer curve.

Controls, Workflow and Use Cases

The plugin offers two interfaces. The default view has a few knobs and several predefined modes for quick starts, while the advanced mode exposes the full feature set. Behind the dynamics section are two independent compressor/expander units with ratios from 1:4 to 20:1 and infinity, adjustable range and knee, plus a gate with adjustable size and knee.

The dynamics detector offers manual and five automatic modes, along with attack, release, peak/RMS settings and peak hold. Up to 8 channels of surround processing are supported, and the developer positions the plugin for film and game audio as well as music mastering.
