01Overview

Motor Rhythms was built from automotive components such as belt pulleys, brake drums, oil cans and transmission bells, assembled into a playable percussion set. The library captures each piece in detail, with separate close and far microphone positions for different levels of presence. Beyond the kit, it includes 50 sound-designed pads, grooves, leads and atmospheres drawn from the same raw recordings, along with a built-in arpeggiator and step sequencer.

Metal Percussion Sounds and Character

The kit combines unusual sources: fly-wheel hi-hats, gas tank kick drums, a coolant tank snare, oil can and air cleaner cover gongs, and a metal air tube cowbell. Plastic oil trap temple blocks and a hanging transmission bell add contrasting tones. Round-robin variation and velocity layering help each hit sound natural when played repeatedly.

The close and far microphone positions can be used independently, letting you set how much room and mechanical detail you hear in each mix.

Kit Mapping, Controls and Effects

Each kit piece has its own controls for attack, release, start offset, pitch, volume and key placement, and layers can be set independently or linked globally. You can map articulations freely or choose presets for common drum library MIDI mapping standards.

The library includes a Kontakt multi-effects rack and a selection of convolution reverb impulses covering rooms, halls and special-effect spaces. The arpeggiator offers custom dynamic modes and step sequencer pattern creation.
