01Overview

Monoment Bass is built around a two-layer source section, with all-stereo sources that Softube says were recorded from high-end rare and boutique synths. Each key uses three different samples, which adds movement and natural variation. The filter, LFO and amp are laid out for music producers, and the effects section includes a multi-band compressor and a spatialization tool. Softube also includes professional presets from several sound designers and sample companies.

Stereo bass sound and source design

The source section combines two layers of stereo sources. Softube describes the sources as rich and evolving, and notes that every key was recorded in triplicate, giving three different samples per key.

An aging control adds analog-style imperfections to the sound. A third noise source is available at all times, with several organic noise options, to add crunch to the attack or grit to the body of the tone.

The effects section covers analog-style distortion, ambience and tone shaping. Softube says the effects were designed for bass work, including the multi-band compressor and the spatialization tool for adjusting the stereo image.

Using Monoment Bass in Softube Modular

Monoment Bass also works as modules inside Softube Modular, Softube's Eurorack platform. Monoment Source is the source engine as a stand-alone module, with a built-in amplitude envelope, waveform mixing, dirt level and aging. Its glide, punch, release and aging parameters accept external CV control.

Monoment Filter is the filter section with its own envelope and LFO. The LFO can lock to the DAW tempo or run freely. Monoment FX is the effects engine, offering drive, EQ, multi comp and spatialization modes, with up to three parameters per mode under CV control.
