Sound, Articulations and Character
Mars is recorded with a 30-voice male chorus drawn from several Bay Area ensembles. The library includes two composite microphone positions, stage and hall, blended from ten large-diaphragm Neumann microphones with distances from 1 to 25 meters. Soundiron describes the result as a massive, full-bodied sound.
The articulation set is broad. It includes 42 marcatos with round-robin, 26 staccatos, five true legato vowels and a large set of shouts, sweeps, clusters and war chants. Sustaining articulations include three-part polyphonic pseudo-legato, and a bonus collection of ambiences, drones and textures is also included.
