Downmixing Dolby Atmos Beds to Legacy Formats
Dolby Atmos mixes are often built on a 7.1.2 bed, which carries the channel-based content of the mix alongside the object-based elements. Delivering that mix to systems that do not support Atmos requires a downmix to fewer channels.
The 3D Immersive Extension gives Halo Downmix the ability to take 7.1.2 bed tracks and render them to 7.1, 5.1 and stereo. This lets a single immersive session feed several legacy deliverables without rebuilding the mix for each one.
It is a targeted tool: its job is the bed-to-channel-count conversion, and the surrounding downmix functions come from the Halo Downmix base product.
