Fletcher: Spectral Multi Effect Plugin by Lese

Fletcher is a spectral multi effect plugin by Lese that smooths a signal over time by morphing its output toward the signal's own frequency spectrum. It runs on Windows and macOS.

01Overview

Fletcher is an effects plugin from Lese that works in the frequency domain. It analyzes the spectrum of the incoming signal and uses it as a target, so the output slowly morphs toward that target as time passes. A decay stage can keep adding sound after the input stops, so the morphing continues into silence. The developer describes Fletcher as sitting somewhere between a compressor and a reverb without fully being either. It is offered in VST3, AU and AAX formats.

Spectral Smoothing and Attack and Decay Control

Fletcher's attack and decay behavior is set with Factor Bands, a band-based system in which each frequency region of the signal can have its own attack and decay time. Lese says the bands ramp smoothly across the spectrum, so the transition between regions does not jump.

The Fitting control detects parts of the spectrum that sit unevenly and levels them out. Turned to the negative side, it works as spectral contrast, adding an extra shaping layer before the attack and decay stage.

Shimmer and MIDI Harmonics

The Shimmer control detects the pitch of incoming sounds and adds harmonics above the signal for extra brightness. Shimmer can also take MIDI input, so the added harmonics can be played from an external MIDI source rather than only following the audio.

Fletcher is available as a plugin for Windows and macOS. On macOS it supports Intel and ARM processors.

05FAQ

Questions, answered

What is Fletcher?

Fletcher is a spectral effects plugin by Lese. It morphs the output sound toward the input's frequency spectrum over time and can add decay after the input stops.

Which formats and operating systems does Fletcher support?

Fletcher is available in VST3, AU and AAX formats. On Windows it supports VST3 and AAX, and on macOS it supports VST3, AU and AAX on both Intel and ARM processors.

Can Fletcher be played with MIDI?

Yes. The Shimmer control can take MIDI input, so the harmonics it adds can be played from an external MIDI source.
