Fixate:Midrange from Newfangled Audio is built to address the crowded midrange, where melody, harmony, texture and ambience often compete for space. Its six dedicated processors target specific problem areas and only act when a problem is detected. The plugin is designed for the master bus and can also be used on individual sources such as vocals, guitars and synths. A one-button Analyze and Fix workflow gives a fast starting point, while visual hints across the interface show where problems sit for producers who prefer manual control.

Midrange Detection and Correction Controls

Fixate:Midrange uses critical-band resonance detection modeled on human hearing to locate problem frequencies. Six controls cover Mud, Thinness, Honk, Nasalness, Harshness and Spectral Balance, each handled by its own dynamic processor.

A real-time resonance meter with an integrated HINTMAP display shows where issues are, on the knobs, meters and throughout the interface. Independent Mid and Side channel processing lets you treat the center and width of a mix separately.

Spectral Balance correction spans 15 frequency bands and supports learnable profiles, so the overall tone can be refined without flattening the character of the source.

Match Profiles, Listening Tools and Presets

Match profiles are included for Mastering, Vocals, Guitar and other sources, and you can also learn a custom profile from any reference audio. Per-band enable, solo and delta listening tools help you hear exactly what each correction is doing.

The Midrange Focus mode lets you audition the midrange in isolation. Automatic gain compensation and A/B comparison keep level differences from skewing your judgment.

The Full Preset Librarian offers Categories, Tags, Descriptions, UNDO and A/B Comparison. Professional Presets for Mastering, Vocals and other uses are included, and the interface is fully resizable with color options.
