01Overview

FilterField is built around four filters that can be controlled together through an XY pad. Each filter can be set to a different type, and the XY control can move between them or morph a range of parameters at the same time. The plugin adds a distortion module, an audio follower, LFOs, an eight-slot modulation matrix, a gater and a stereo tape delay. Presets are organized into bank folders, with a quick browser and a bank manager for sorting.

Filter Types and XY Morphing

FilterField offers a wide choice of filter types. The list includes lowpass, highpass, bandpass and notch filters at 6, 12, 18, 24 and 36 dB slopes, EQ shapes, vowel and formant filters, comb filters, an all-pass and a phaser. Special modes cover ring modulation, amplitude modulation, frequency shift, frequency-modulated lowpass, highpass and bandpass, and feedback lowpass, highpass and bandpass.

The four filters can run in Vector, Parallel or Serial mode. In Vector mode the XY control mixes between the filters, and Morph mode can move a selected range of parameters at the same time. Each filter has its own frequency, separation, Q or amount, feedback, pan and volume controls.

Modulation, Recording and Routing

The XY path can be recorded and played back in several ways. Trigger options include host, MIDI note, manual and MIDI triggers. Playback can be tempo-synced, looped or set to bidirectional loop, with movement points from 2 up to 128 and optional space and time quantizing.

Modulation comes from an audio follower that can respond to the input, a side input or other sources, along with LFOs with tempo sync and an eight-slot modulation matrix. The distortion module offers 21 types and can sit before or after the filters.
