Descent granular delay and reverb plugin by Audio Damage interface

Descent: Granular Delay and Reverb Plugin by Audio Damage Free Download

Descent is a granular delay and reverb plugin by Audio Damage. It splits incoming audio into up to 50 grains and scatters them across time and pitch to create delays, washes, frozen textures and pitch-shifted clouds.

01Overview

Descent processes incoming audio by breaking it into small grains and rearranging them in time and pitch. Its granular engine can run from one to fifty grains at once, so the same plugin can thicken a sound subtly or build large, evolving textures. Pitch shifting covers -24 to +24 semitones, and the transposition can be locked to specific intervals. It is available in VST3, VST2, AU and AAX formats for Windows, macOS and Linux.

Granular Sound Shaping and Pitch Control

The granular engine lets you set the grain count, grain duration, overlap and envelope shape, which gives you direct control over how dense and smooth a texture sounds.

Pitch shifting runs from -24 to +24 semitones. With quantization enabled, transpositions snap to set intervals such as fifths, octaves or other chromatic combinations, which helps keep shimmer and pitched clouds harmonically consistent with the key of your track.

Direction control plays grains forward, in reverse or in a random mix, covering tape-style effects, reverse swells and glitchy textures.

Randomization, Tempo Sync and Workflow

Six-axis randomization lets you vary pitch, pan, position, amplitude, duration and grain count independently. Small amounts add gentle movement, while larger amounts push the texture toward chaos.

Tempo sync locks grain timing to your session, and free-running mode lets textures evolve without a fixed grid.

A real-time FFT visualization shows the granular cloud as it changes, which makes it easier to see what each control is doing while you adjust it.

High-feedback mode uses diffusion control to turn delays into dense, reverb-like washes.
