Filter Bank Sound and Character
The core of 914 MK 2 is its twelve fixed-frequency band-pass filters. Each band isolates a narrow slice of the spectrum, so the output takes on a distinct, formant-like color rather than a conventional sweeping filter tone.
Audio Damage says the effect can add rich luster to pads and give percussive and lead synth sounds a vocal quality. Because it operates in true stereo, the processed image keeps its width.
The bandwidth and frequency offset controls shape how far the bands spread and where they sit, which lets you move between subtle coloration and more pronounced timbres.
