Effects and Character for Mixing Vocals and Instruments

The distortion section offers three flavors, ranging from gentle drive to hardcore fuzz. The EQ provides a high shelf, a midrange boost and a resonant telephone-style effect for filtered sounds.

The stereo tools include chorus, widening and tape flanging, and the reverb offers three ambiances: Room, Hall and Canyon. Together they cover a wide range of colors, from subtle polish to obvious effect.

Waves describes the plugin as suited to vocal adlibs and filtering on instruments, which points to its use on individual tracks as well as on buses.

Delay, Throw Switch and Tempo Sync

CLA Effects includes separate short and long delays that sync to tempo. Slapback is the exception and runs without tempo sync.

The Throw switch sends the signal momentarily into a long delay, which makes it useful for expressive one-off echoes at the end of a phrase or word. Left and right balance and sensitivity controls let you adjust how the effects sit in the stereo field and respond to the input.

A switchable Direct mode lets you insert CLA Effects on a bus or directly on a track, depending on your session routing.
