01Overview

CineStrings Runs is a collection of string runs, scales and rips recorded by Cinesamples. The developer says the library was captured at the MGM Scoring Stage at Sony Pictures studios in Los Angeles. Its Sync to Downbeat function aligns each run's end with the nearest downbeat, whatever point in the bar you start, and the runs follow tempo changes mid-run. Notation for every included run, rip and trill is displayed in the interface as you trigger samples, so you can see what is being played.

Sync to Downbeat and Tempo-Locked Playback

The core feature of CineStrings Runs is Sync to Downbeat. It ends each run on the nearest downbeat regardless of where playback starts in the bar or the time signature. This makes it practical to place runs quickly in a sequence without manually trimming them to the grid.

Runs also sync to changing tempos during playback, which helps when a cue shifts speed partway through a phrase. The result is a set of phrases that fit the arrangement's timing rather than sitting on a fixed loop.

Scales, Trills and Rips in the Interface

The library covers major, natural minor, harmonic minor, octatonic, whole tone and chromatic scales. Runs are included in combinations of one half, one full or two full octaves, moving up and down and starting on the tonic, fifth and tritone of the key.

A Scales and Trills patch adds whole-step trill samples over major and minor chords. A Tonal and Atonal Rips patch contains short rips moving in both directions. Because all material is notated in the interface, you can match each sample to its written pattern as you play.
