01Overview

CineStrings Core is part of Cinesamples' CineSymphony series and was recorded by engineer Dennis Sands at the MGM Scoring Stage. The library is built around a standard set of string articulations, including sustains, legatos, short bowed styles, tremolos, trills, pizzicato and harmonic sustains. Its interface offers quick preset selection, mapping options for velocity, key-switching and MIDI CC articulation switching, and a mixer with the full mix plus four other microphone positions.

String Articulations and Dynamics for Writing and Programming

The library includes non-vibrato, vibrato and espressivo sustains, with smooth dynamic morphing across five dynamics and across each vibrato position. Natural legatos morph smoothly across four dynamics.

Short bowed articulations include spiccato, staccato, marcato and sforzando overlay, along with tremolos, sul-pont tremolos, whole-step and half-step trills, pizzicato, Bartok pizz, col legno and harmonic sustains. These cover the basic set of articulations used for most traditional string writing.

Hairpin Creator and Bow-Attack Overlay

The Hairpin Creator automatically produces swells based on time or synced to your DAW, so the strings can crescendo and decrescendo without programming a series of controller changes. It can also link a non-vibrato state to espressivo.

The bow-attack overlay lets you switch overlay types such as marcato or sforzando with a CC. The overlay is applied to sustains and legatos when you play at a hard velocity, which lets you build different bow-attack styles and recall them in your DAW.
