01Overview

CineBrass Sonore is part of the CineBrass family of brass libraries from Cinesamples. It focuses on trumpet and horn sections, with separate patches for the principal trumpet, trumpets two through four, and horns. The sections were captured in the CineSymphony series, and the developer describes the recording as a recreation of a classic orchestral sound from the 1990s. The instrument runs inside Kontakt and is designed to be played with legato transitions that respond to your playing speed.

Trumpet and Horn Sound, Mixes and Controls

Each patch includes the standard CineSymphony mix options: Full, Close, Room and Surround. The Full mix is the desk mix from the MGM scoring stage, while the other three are the direct microphone feeds. The Trumpets patches provide separate mixes for the principal trumpet and trumpets two through four.

Red keyswitches are latching and select articulations from the menu above the mix presets. Green keyswitches are non-latching and add an overlay at the start of each note, with the amount set by velocity and the Overlay Vol control. The SPEED knob sets how often legato transitions play, and Verb Comp controls the reverb on legato tails. Optional tape saturation is off by default.

Reverb Setup for Brass Patches

The reverb return defaults to a 90s Med Hall preset. Cinesamples recommends leaving it on at the default amount, because the legato engine uses it internally. If you set it to off, the Verb Comp control on the Settings page will not work.

For extra space, the developer suggests a glossy, clear reverb rather than a dense or thick one. For Close, Room and Surround mixes only, Tims Room C matches the ambience, and Tims Room R or Tims Room L can add a subtle reflection on the opposite side, since the trumpets sit right and the horns sit left.
