01Overview

CineBrass Core from Cinesamples is built around orchestral brass recorded at the MGM Scoring Stage at Sony Studios. Version 1.7 adds an Adaptive Legato Engine that adjusts interval speed to match your playing, so slow lines and fast runs can sit in the same performance. A new mapping tab lets you blend articulations with polyphonic keyswitching or overlapping velocity and CC ranges. The instrument runs inside Kontakt as a 64-bit plugin.

Adaptive legato and True Legato trombone

The Adaptive Legato Engine, also found in CineStrings and CineWinds, detects your playing speed and adjusts the legato interval to match. The developer says you can play slow, expressive lines and fast runs in one performance without touching the speed dial. Intensity responds to velocity.

Version 1.7 also adds True Legato samples for Trombone Ensemble, recorded at the same scoring stage. They are integrated with the earlier Trombone Ensemble articulations and include brassy and mellow patches.

Articulations, sustains and mapping

The articulation patches include shorts of several lengths and dynamics: eighths staccato with 8 round robins, quarters tenuto with 4 round robins, and halves marcato with 2 round robins, each from piano to fortissimo. Sustains feature smooth dynamic morphing.

The mapping can be set with five presets or a custom grid where parameters can be changed. The Advanced Controls for ensemble patches set the range of instruments within a section, and MIDI CCs can be assigned to them. The accented legato control layers marcato, staccato or spiccato over legato transitions.
