01Overview

Blackout is built on the Kontakt 5 Engine and focuses on one job: fast, tempo-synced pulse rhythms. Its interface is kept compact and efficient, so it stays light on system resources. The instrument spans three octaves, letting you move pulse patterns through pitch without loading a large multi-velocity library. Iamlamprey positions it as a tool for adding tension and movement to any track, rather than a large, feature-heavy sound set.

Pulse Loops, Pitch Control and Built-In Effects

Blackout's core is 36 tempo-synced pulse loops. Key-switch pitch shifting lets you change the pitch of the loops from the keyboard, so a single pattern can cover a range of notes across the three octaves.

A built-in filter is automatable and mapped to the mod wheel, giving you a direct way to shape the pulses during a performance. The instrument also includes widener, delay, reverb, trash, crush and phase effects. Speed adjustment controls let you change the rate of the loops to fit your arrangement.

All interface controls are automatable and can be mapped to MIDI controllers through Kontakt macros, so you can build movement into your automation lanes.

Who Blackout Is For

Blackout suits producers who need quick, rhythmic pulses rather than a deep sound library. Because the interface is small and efficient, it fits into projects where CPU and memory use matter.

It is most useful when you want a pulsing layer that drives tension or rhythm, and when you want to control that layer live with the mod wheel and macro mappings.

Blackout requires the full version of Kontakt. It does not run in the free Kontakt Player.
