01Overview

Atlantis Dual Chambers recreates the reverb of two chambers at Atlantis Studios, the Stockholm facility associated with Swedish pop recordings. Softube developed the plugin in collaboration with Atlantis Studios and states that it is officially licensed by the studio. The chambers can be used together or separately, and the controls cover microphone selection, damping, decay, pre-delay and mic distance. Dynamics, filtering and stereo output options let you shape the reverb within a mix.

Chamber Sound and Character

Softube describes the chambers as bigger and brighter than most, with a relatively long decay time and hard walls that produce airy high-frequency reflections. The plugin combines captured mechanical damping with algorithmic damping, so you can shape how the tail decays.

The microphone options cover a modern cardioid, a ribbon figure eight, a vintage tube cardioid and a vintage dynamic omnidirectional. Changing the mic alters the character of the room sound, which makes it easier to match the reverb to a vocal, drum or instrument.

Controls and Workflow

The main reverb controls are Decay, Pre-delay and Mic Distance. A Resonance Control, British-style filters and EQ, and a dynamics section with Compression, Ducking and Gate give more precise shaping of the reverb signal.

Routing options include Mono or Stereo input and output, Swap L/R Out, a Dry/Wet Mix control, and Output Width and Balance. These allow the plugin to fit both insert and send-style use in a session.
