Ascent: Dual Hall and Granular Shimmer Reverb by Audio Damage Free Download

Ascent is a dual reverb plugin by Audio Damage that runs a hall reverb and a granular particle reverb at the same time. The particle engine adds pitch-shifted shimmer, letting you move from grounded room depth to evolving atmospheres in one interface.

01Overview

Ascent combines two reverbs in a single plugin. The hall reverb provides the core space, while the particle reverb adds pitch-shifted layers that build over time. Bloom sets how much shimmer is blended into the tail, so you can move from subtle ambience to a full cinematic wash. A built-in ducking function pulls the tails back on transients, keeping the dry signal clear in a dense mix. Ascent is the first entry in Audio Damage's Motion Effects family.

Sound and Character of the Dual Reverb Engine

The hall reverb and particle reverb run simultaneously rather than as separate effects, so both contribute to the same tail. Resonance Sound describes the particle engine as pitch-shifting from -12 to +12 semitones using two overlapping grains. Audio Damage says this approach is designed to avoid the metallic artifacts found in many shimmer reverbs.

Expanse selects one of three tuned room modes (Small, Medium, or Large). These modes shape the delay network and spatial character of the hall reverb, not only the decay time, which gives you a way to change the feel of the room itself.

Workflow, Ducking and Presets

Bloom is the main control for shimmer amount, so you can adjust the pitch-shifted layer without changing the hall reverb. The built-in dynamic ducking reduces the reverb tail when transients hit, which helps keep the dry signal present without constant fader adjustments.

Presets use an XML-based format that works across VST3, AU and AAX on every supported operating system, so you do not need to track separate preset folders for each host.
