Analog Delay Character and Modeled Quirks
The core of Ratshack Reverb 3 is a bucket-brigade style delay model. Audio Damage describes the behavior as accurate, meaning that changing the delay time also shifts the pitch of the signal, as it did on the original hardware. This pitch movement is a defining trait of bucket-brigade delays and can be used deliberately for detuned, warbling echoes or for subtle motion.
The plugin also models both the mic and line inputs of the original unit. Feeding the delay section with a hotter signal through the modeled mic input produces overdrive and distortion, which adds grit to repeats and gives the sound a lo-fi edge.
