01Overview

Apollo 2 is the sequel to Vir2 Instruments' Apollo, rebuilt with a new interface and all-new samples. The library draws on guitars, amps and pedals recorded for the purpose, covering swells, drones, plucks, licks and atonal guitar effects. Its five engines can be layered or played independently, so producers can build guitar textures without relying on a single guitar sound. It requires Kontakt.

Engines, Samples and Sound Shaping

Apollo 2 is organized around five engines that can be layered together. The Ambient Designer patch arranges phrases, plucks, swells, bows, pads and white noise, and lets you change pitch on the fly or switch between major and minor with a single key.

The Instruments section includes 63 chromatically sampled guitars, each recorded with three dynamic layers. Legato, pad and step-sequencer features extend what a guitar can do in a performance.

Each engine can be shaped with LFO and step-sequencer effects, custom AHDSR envelopes, and reverse or playback-speed changes for more unusual results.

Snapshots, Presets and Workflow

The library ships with over 275 snapshots, sorted into categories such as swells, plucked, motion, sound design and hybrid. They work as starting points or as quick sounds to drop into a track.

Version 1.5 adds 55 new snapshots, a restore-to-default button, sequencer copy, paste and randomize buttons, an LFO filter cutoff knob, directly selectable engines and engine playback indicators.

Apollo 2 also integrates with Komplete Kontrol and Maschine, so NKS-compatible hardware can control the instruments.
