Sound and Compression Character
McDSP says the 4030 Retro Compressor is built on original algorithms with a transparent yet vintage sound. The wet/dry mix control lets you balance compressed and uncompressed signal, which is useful when you want to keep the transient detail of the source while adding control.
The developer also points to an anti-clip output stage topology, designed to eliminate digital clipping at any output level and produce a smoother distortion characteristic. This sits alongside analog saturation modeling, which McDSP uses across its plugin line.
