01Overview

The MC2000 is designed to emulate the sound of vintage and modern compressors while giving you control over dynamic range in several frequency bands at once. Common controls for output make-up gain, threshold, ratio, attack and release are included. Non-standard Knee and BITE controls shape the compression curve in ways McDSP describes as unprecedented. The package covers mono and stereo versions, and the Native edition is the one for hosts that do not use AAX DSP hardware.

Sound and Compression Character

McDSP says the MC2000 emulates the sound of vintage and modern compressors. The Knee and BITE controls are non-standard parameters that let you change how compression behaves across its range rather than relying only on a basic ratio setting.

Multiple peak detection circuit types are included. Each detection style responds to a signal differently, so you can select the one that suits the material instead of owning several separate compressor units.

Steep 24 dB/Oct crossover filters separate the bands, which McDSP states minimizes signal leakage into neighboring compression bands.

Multi-Band Controls and Workflow

Each version handles a different number of bands: MC202 for two, MC303 for three and MC404 for four. Adjustable crossover filters let you set where the bands divide.

Multi-band control linking allows the bands to be tied together so adjustments can be made across them as a group.

The Native v7 release includes updated high-definition interfaces, zero latency algorithms and double precision processing.
