Ten EQ Models and Their Character
McDSP says each module draws on classic and modern equalizers. The E670 is based on the Fairchild 664 program equalizer, with gentle shelves and a mid parametric band. The Moo Q is a three-band tube-style design. The British-E module uses the filter technology from McDSP's FilterBank plugin, which the developer based on Neve equalizer characteristics, and combines a high-pass filter, low shelf, parametric and high shelf. The EQ'76 draws on the UREI 545 parametric equalizer and offers four bands.
Other modules cover different roles. The iQ is the only two-band module in the collection, and the EZ Q pairs a high-pass filter with shelves and a flexible parametric band. The E357 has steeper slopes than most of the other modules, and the developer advises using it with caution.
