Session Percussion ADpak from XLN Audio is an expansion for Addictive Drums 2 that replaces a conventional kit with Latin and world percussion. The instruments were selected and matched to work together as a complete kit, so you can play it like any other Addictive Drums kit or combine it with other ADpaks. The included presets cover genres from vintage and Latin pop/rock to hip hop, R&B and dancehall, and the developer describes them as sitting easily in a mix.
The kit is built around a familiar layout. Congas and timbales serve as the toms, a large orchestral bass drum as the kick, and a Brazilian caixa as the snare. Blocks, tambourine, pandeiro and hi-hats complete the setup.
The package also includes a set of cymbals, ranging from 8 inches to 22 inches, including a Zildjian K Vintage and a Masterwork Custom. A separate optional Brazilian pandeiro can be loaded into the kick, snare and hi-hat slots.
Because Session Percussion plays like a standard kit, it can be used on its own or as a replacement for a drum kit in an existing Addictive Drums project. XLN Audio also suggests pairing it with another ADpak for a wider range of tones.
