Modern Jazz Brushes ADpak is an expansion pack for Addictive Drums 2 that adds a brush-played jazz drum kit with production-ready presets. It centers on the RealSweep system for sweeps, accents and stops.
Modern Jazz Brushes ADpak from XLN Audio focuses on brush playing, a technique where nuance and accents drive the groove. The pack features a Premier kit recorded with brushes and tuned for a modern jazz sound, with a Ludwig Acrolite snare and a set of cymbals from Meinl, Paiste and Sabian. It requires Addictive Drums 2.
The core of this pack is RealSweep. XLN Audio says the system lets you place accent strokes within a sweep without interrupting its motion, and stop the sweep at any point for pauses.
This gives brush parts a more natural feel than simply triggering hits, since the sweep and its accents follow the way a drummer moves the brushes across the head. The included presets are ready to use, so you can start from a playable groove and shape it from there.
The kit is built around a Premier Gen-X set with an 18x14" kick, four toms from 10x8" to 16x16", and a 14x5" Ludwig Acrolite snare. The drums are played with brushes and tuned slightly for a modern jazz sound.
The cymbal selection includes a 14" Sabian HHX Groove hihat, 18" Meinl Byzance and Paiste Mellow crashes, a 19" Sabian HHXtreme crash, and a 21" Meinl Byzance medium ride. A Meinl chrome tambourine is also included.
