01Overview

Modern Heavy ADpak is a preset expansion from XLN Audio that runs inside Addictive Drums 2. It is built around a custom-tuned Tama Star kit captured in a studio and set up for room resonance. The pack adds a wide selection of snares, a set of Paiste 602 and 2002 cymbals, and double kicks recorded in true stereo. Kit, kicks and snare options for heavy production

The core of the pack is a Tama Star maple kit handcrafted in Japan and positioned by David Castillo of Studio Gröndahl to resonate in the room. The kick section offers a single centered kick or separately captured left and right kicks recorded in true stereo.

The Automagic Alternates feature plays rapid double kick patterns in an every-other-hit sequence, so you can avoid machine-gun kick patterns without editing your MIDI.

The six snares cover a wide range, from a Tama Mastercraft Bell Brass captured in three tunings (194 Hz, 220 Hz and 300 Hz) to a Pearl Free Floating Brass, a Ludwig Black Beauty and a 15x8" Tama Star Maple Reserve snare.

Cymbals and studio recording

The cymbal selection draws on Paiste 2002 and 602 Modern Essentials models, including hi-hats, crashes, china cymbals, a splash and a 24" ride. The pack also includes a Paiste pstx Flanger Stack, which was used on Sepultura's "Machine Messiah".

The kit was recorded at Studio Gröndahl in Stockholm, a studio known for its analog sound and for hosting metal and rock artists.
