01Overview

KorgTube is a preset-based expansion for Korg's hardware synthesizers, developed by Sinevibes as part of its KorgOSC Collection. It works as an oscillator that uses resonator modeling synthesis, combining a flexible noise source with a comb filter. The developer says the design can produce woodwind-like and plucked or bowed string-like tones, as well as more experimental, randomly evolving sounds. The package includes 16 example patches and a PDF user manual.

Noise Generator and Comb Filter Sound Design

KorgTube's core is a noise generator with four types: white noise, shot noise, velvet noise and semi-periodic noise. Its density can be modulated, which changes the character of the signal from sparse bursts to denser textures.

This noise feeds a feed-forward comb filter with negative or positive feedback. An extra low-pass damping filter sits inside the feedback loop, letting you shape how the resonance decays. Sinevibes describes the result as resonator modeling synthesis.

The noise signal can also be used dry, which opens up sound design beyond resonated tones.

Modulation and Control Features

KorgTube includes its own LFO with a frequency range of 0.1 to 10 Hz and an envelope generator with attack times from 1 ms to 10 s. These give you slow evolving motion as well as quick transients.

Built-in lag filters smooth parameter changes, which helps when adjusting or modulating controls during a performance or sweep.

The plugin runs on Korg Prologue, Korg minilogue XD and Korg NTS-1 hardware, so the synth's own interface is where you shape these parameters.
