Sound Engine and Character
Sinevibes describes the sweep as bipolar, so the motion can move downward, switch to upward, and return without an audible seam. Each sweep morphs smoothly into the next, which is the core of the barber-pole effect.
The number of stages sets the intensity. With one stage the effect stays subtle, while three stages push it further. At extreme settings, Whirl suppresses and accentuates different harmonics, which gives it a resonant, filtered quality. A variable stereo phase offset adds width control, and the plugin supports mono to mono, mono to stereo and stereo to stereo configurations.
