Sound and Character of the Circuit-Bent Filter
The core of KorgMalfunction is a filter model with deliberately tampered internal connections. Sinevibes says this produces a very specific, rough and screaming distortion that can quickly transform even primitive sounds into expressive, unpredictable textures.
The effect uses 2× oversampling to reduce unwanted harshness caused by high-frequency aliasing. An input gate envelope is also included to keep static noise from constantly exciting the filter, which helps keep the output controlled when no signal is present.
