Drum Kits and Sound Character

The Hip Hop and Gospel ADpak is based on a Yamaha 9000 Recording Custom kit, which XLN Audio describes as offering punch, clarity and expressive depth. It includes two kicks, four snares and five toms, ranging from 8-inch and 10-inch rack toms to a 16-inch floor tom. Two kicks give you a short, pocket-focused option and a larger, more articulate option with a sharp attack.

The Soul and R&B ADpak uses a Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple kit, with warmer, fuller tones and a balanced dynamic range. Together, the two kits cover tight sample-style grooves and softer, organic soul textures within one expansion.

MIDI Grooves and Cymbal Selection

The Hip Hop MIDIpak and the Hip Hop and Gospel Beats and Songs MIDIpak supply grooves performed by drummer Diamond Johnson, presented in the collection as a source of rhythmic ideas for hip hop and gospel. The beat material is meant to be a starting point for arrangements.

The cymbal set includes several Istanbul Xist and Istanbul Custom models, including rides, crashes, hi-hats and stacks in sizes from 8 to 28 inches, giving you a range of colors for both gospel and hip hop arrangements.
