BFD Dark Mahogany is an expansion pack for BFD that adds a mahogany drum kit with a mid-2000s California hard rock character. The kit centers on a 24x18 bass drum and includes two snares, a rack tom and two floor toms. Zildjian K Sweet cymbals and hi-hat complete the sound. Kit Sound and Character

The kit is built around a 24x18 Q Drum Co. mahogany bass drum, paired with a 14x7 Q Drum Co. aluminium snare and a 14x6.5 Ludwig 402 snare. The mahogany rack tom and two mahogany floor toms give the kit a deep, woody core that suits tribal-style tom fills.

The cymbal set uses Zildjian K Sweet hi-hats, ride and crash cymbals, plus a K Custom Dark crash. The developer says the recordings were made at Middle Farm Studios in South Devon, England, using a stone-walled live room and top-tier microphones and preamps.

Presets and Grooves

Five presets are included for quick results without mixing, and an original mix preset provides the unprocessed studio recordings for custom mixing.

The library contains 348 individual grooves, covering tom fills, bass riff rhythms and guitar-driven patterns. The material is aimed at hard rock, metal and pop productions.
