01Overview

Dark Copper is an expansion for BFD Player, drawn from the BFD Dark Farm expansion pack. Its kit centers on a copper-finished Q Drums Co. set, with Ludwig shells across the kick, toms and snares. Developer BFD describes the sound as fiery and aggressive, aimed at modern rock production. The pack is designed to load into BFD Player and give you a ready-to-play rock kit without building one from scratch.

Kit Components and Sound

The kit includes a 22x14 inch Ludwig Super Classic kick and a 13x9 inch Ludwig Super Classic mid tom, along with a 12x8 inch high tom. Two floor toms, an 18x16 inch and a 16x16 inch Ludwig Super Classic, provide the low-end weight that BFD says anchors modern rock rhythms.

Two Ludwig snares are included: a 14x5 inch Ludwig 400 and a 14x5.5 inch Ludwig Jazz Festival. BFD says the kit was recorded at Middle Farm Studios in the UK, with plenty of smack and impact and enough room ambience to bind the kit together.

Cymbals and Workflow in BFD Player

The cymbal selection uses Zildjian models: a 22 inch A-Custom ride, two 16 and 19 inch A-Custom crashes, a 12 inch K splash, a 14 inch Quick Beat hi-hat and a 19 inch K China. This gives you crashes, a splash, a china and hi-hats to shape the top end of a mix.

Because the pack runs inside BFD Player, you need the BFD platform installed to use it. Pack it into your session as a starting kit and adjust the drum and cymbal balance to fit the track.
