Drum Kits and Sound Character

The Studio Pop ADpak is an instant pop rock drum kit recorded at Decibel Studios in Stockholm. It features a Sonor Designer kit with five toms, paired with Sabian AAX Studio cymbals and a Latin Percussion rock cowbell. Each piece was sampled across a range of strokes, with snares miked from above and below, kicks captured from the front and near the beater, and room sound recorded on separate stereo mics. The Studio Rock ADpak offers a modern rock counterpart recorded in the same studio.

The kits are built to be shaped. Presets are included for specific drum sounds, and you can adjust room noise, tom tuning, overhead level, distortion, reverb and attack. The developer describes the sound as ready for radio-level mixes, but the kits are most useful when you start from a preset and shape the drums to fit the arrangement.

Workflow and Beat Libraries

The collection is organized around Addictive Drums 2's drag-and-drop audio and MIDI handling, rapid linking and layering, and quick kit piece swapping. The Rock Songs and Writer's Blocks MIDIpaks supply MIDI beats to drop into a session, so you can sketch a groove and then change the kit underneath it.

Because the collection includes the Addictive Drums 2 Engine, the packs can be loaded through the instrument itself. The MIDIpaks suit songwriters who need a rhythm bed quickly, while the ADpaks suit producers who want to control each drum in detail.
