01Overview

Addictive Drums 2: Percussion Collection extends the AD2 library with two kits recorded in different studios. One is a Latin-leaning set of congas, timbales, a caixa and a pandeiro, which can be played as single sounds or as a full drum kit. The other is a boutique kit of hand-made wooden drums, played with both sticks and mallets. The collection also includes the Addictive Drums 2 engine and four MIDI packs, so it works as a complete starting point for producers who want organic, percussive textures.

Latin Percussion and Vintage Recordings

Session Percussion is recorded in Svenska Grammofonstudion's large live room in Gothenburg, using vintage microphones run through a Neve console. XLN Audio describes the sounds as organic and vibrant, with congas and timbales that play grooves you would not get from typical percussion sample libraries.

The kit is built to work as a playable drum set. The congas and timbales can serve as toms, and the pandeiro can cover hi-hat, kick and snare through its different slap styles. Each piece is also usable on its own, so you can layer individual percussion into other drum kits.

The collection includes a range of cymbals and hi-hats chosen to match the percussive set.

Boutique Wooden Drums for Mallet and Stick Playing

Boutique Mallets uses a kit made by Wacco, a Finnish drum maker, recorded at Soundtrade Studios in Stockholm. The drums are made from solid wood, with some shells carved from single pieces of wood, and are tuned with traditional rope-tensioned lugs.

All drums in this ADpak were played with both sticks and mallets, and the kit includes atmospheric cymbal swells. XLN Audio positions it for folky, warm and organic material, from simple songs to cinematic film scores.

The collection also includes MIDI-based Percussion Beats and Mallet Grooves to play these sounds quickly.
