Sound and Character of the Eight Reverb Models

The collection covers a wide range of reverb styles. FG-480 is described as an industry-standard reverb with a distinct modulation character that helps it sit forward in a mix. FG-QRS is a transparent early-1980s German unit that Slate says suits vocals well, along with many other sources. FG-6000 is a modern Danish reverb with realistic, deep spaces for both small and large rooms.

FG-2016 recreates natural-sounding rooms and is tied to many well-known recordings. FG-2000 is a rare Japanese reverb that is noted for drums and works on guitars, piano and vocals. FG-250 is the first digital reverb in the collection, with a thick tone that blends easily into source material. FG-16X is an early-1980s microprocessor-controlled reverb with a smooth, lush tone, and it is linked to the drum sound on Phil Collins' In The Air Tonight.

Expansion Pack and Fusion IR Workflow

The FG-BM7 model is a free expansion for VerbSuite Classics, available directly from LiquidSonics. It uses public-domain Bricasti M7 Fusion IRs to recreate the unit's modulation rather than relying on static impulse responses.

Fusion IR technology is the core of the plugin's approach. Slate Digital says that in blind comparisons, users could not tell the hardware reverb patches apart from the VerbSuite captures. Because each model is a capture of a specific unit, the collection works as a set of distinct reverb voices within one plugin.
