TimeStop focuses on one effect: the tape stop. Instead of clicking a button and hoping the timing fits, you draw the slowdown as automation in your DAW. The large Pitch control can be automated, so you set the length and shape of each drop to match the track. It works on individual sounds such as vocals, drums and synths, and it can also be placed on a master bus.
TimeStop offers three modes. Classic produces the familiar woozy tape drag, where pitch and time fall together, similar to a vinyl record slowing to a stop.
Modern drops the pitch without slowing the beat, which the developer presents as a first for tape-stop plugins. This keeps lyrics and drums tight while the pitch still falls.
Loop combines the tape stop with a stutter effect, producing DJ-style fills and transitions.
Because the Pitch knob is fully automatable, you can draw any curve at any length rather than adjusting timing sliders. Cableguys positions this as a faster way to build tape stops that fit the arrangement.
