01Overview

Swayed Keys is part of KLANG's TAPED collection, which is built around the nostalgia of tape. KLANG sent a classic electric stage piano through tape hardware to capture the warmth and wow and flutter that come with it. A grainy processed vibraphone is layered on top to add extra texture and metal to the tone. The instrument is designed for producers who want keys with a sense of imperfection and age.

Tape-Style Electric Piano Sound and Character

The core of Swayed Keys is a classic electric stage piano run through tape hardware. The result is a warm, fluttering tone that carries the saturation and wow and flutter associated with tape recording.

KLANG layered a grainy processed vibraphone sound into the patch to enrich the tone. A balance knob sets how much of this grainy layer you hear, and it can be linked to the modwheel so you can shift between the two sounds during a performance.

Controls for Shaping Tremolo, Tone and Effects

Beyond the balance control, Swayed Keys includes a tremolo knob to set the depth of the movement and a tone knob to shape the brightness of the sound.

The instrument also offers phaser, distortion, delay and reverb controls, so you can push the sound further into lo-fi or ambient territory or keep it subtle. These controls make it useful for both chordal parts and melodic lines in nostalgic productions.
