01Overview

DRUMBOX: Vinyl Drums is KLANG's homage to drum computers and sample-based rhythm production. KLANG says the instrument is an attempt to express its love for vintage drum machines and the music they made possible. The drum sounds are drawn from vinyl sampling and carry a hip-hop inspired feel. Because the sounds are roughly compressed, they are intended as a starting point for building beats and sparking new ideas.

03In depth

Vinyl-Sampled Drum Character

The core idea of DRUMBOX is the sound of vinyl sampling. KLANG describes the sounds as roughly compressed, which gives them a rough, gritty texture rather than a polished studio finish.

This makes the instrument a practical choice when you want drums that sit with sampled loops and records. The character is closer to the crate-digging tradition of hip-hop production than to clean, modern drum kits.

Because the sounds already have a strong personality, they work well as a quick starting point. You can build a groove around them before deciding on further processing.

Kontakt Instrument for Hip-Hop Beats

DRUMBOX is a Kontakt instrument, so it runs inside Native Instruments Kontakt rather than as a standalone application. Kontakt must be installed before you can load it.

KLANG frames the instrument around hip-hop inspired production and sample-based music. It suits producers who build beats from sampled material and want drums that match that approach.

If you already work in Kontakt and want vintage, vinyl-flavored drum sounds, DRUMBOX fits into that workflow directly.
