01Overview

Sugar is a multi-effect plugin from PROCESS.AUDIO built around a set of harmonic enhancement techniques in one place. Its four bands (Low, Mid, High and Air) each offer two colors, so you can shape a track's low end, body, presence and top end from a single interface. A jog wheel blends the processed signal with the dry signal, and an FX-only switch lets you hear exactly what the plugin adds.

Sound Character and Colour Palette

Sugar's eight colors are named Thick, Punch, Warm, Broad, Shine, Excite, Yin and Yang. Each one targets a different quality, from low-end weight and transient snap to stereo width and high-frequency air.

The colors sit on top of four parallel bands, so you can combine them rather than choosing a single effect. The developer describes the result as a way to reach a polished, professional sound faster than manual processing chains.

Three saturation circuits, Drive, Distort and Destroy, add harmonic coloration at different intensities, from subtle warmth to heavy distortion.

Workflow, Filters and Controls

Sugar's signal flow runs the chosen effects in parallel, blends them with the dry signal, passes the result through high-pass and low-pass filters, and then into the saturation section. The filters and the four band crossovers use linear phase processing, which the developer notes helps avoid phase issues common in parallel processing.

Level Management is included to limit bursts of energy added by the effects. Input and output gain controls and mono, stereo and M/S modes give you control over how the plugin fits into your routing.
