01Overview

Strum Guitar is a collection of four guitars for Kontakt, covering electric, acoustic, electric 12-string and acoustic 12-string tones. Its strums were sampled in both up- and down-stroke directions, and the developer says the strumming follows how a guitarist's hand varies the number of strings struck. The instrument includes all major and minor chords and a sequencer with chord recognition that plays chords in a realistic way. Its size and sample count make it a practical choice for building a full guitar part.

Realistic Strumming and Chord Playback

Strum Guitar covers all major and minor chords in both strum directions across its four guitars. Wavesfactory says the samples were recorded so that not every string is struck at the same velocity, which is how real guitarists play. Velocity layers and round robins help avoid repeated-sounding strums.

The built-in sequencer includes a range of common guitar patterns and a chord recognizer that lets you play extended chords such as add9, 7ths and 6ths, not only major or minor triads.

Mixer, Effects and Settings

The mixer lets you control each guitar separately, with load and purge switches, pan, volume, mute, solo, doubler and output selection for routing to your DAW. The effects page accepts a chain of effects in any order, including EQ, compression, modulation, distortion, saturation, reverb and amp simulation.

The settings page provides round-robin control, velocity curve shaping for incoming MIDI, fret and string noise volumes, and envelope controls for attack and release.
