01Overview

SSL G-Channel is Waves' channel strip plugin, developed in association with and licensed by SSL. It targets the G-series console sound, combining an EQ and dynamics section in a single insert. The plugin recreates the 383's proportional-Q EQ and its shelving curves, so producers working on rock, pop or other band material can shape tone in a familiar way. It runs on both Windows and macOS.

EQ and Dynamics Modeled on the G-Series Console

The EQ section recreates the proportional-Q behavior of the 383 and adds shelving curves that Waves describes as novel. There are high and low-shelf bands plus two fully parametric stages, giving you control over broad tonal shaping and more focused cuts or boosts.

The dynamics section includes a program-sensitive attack and a fast attack switch, so you can change how quickly the compressor responds to transients and to the overall program level.

Sidechain Routing and Workflow

Advanced sidechain routing applies to both the dynamics and the EQ, which lets you key processing from another signal in the session. This is useful when you want an instrument's EQ or compression to respond to a different track.

Because the plugin has a low CPU load, you can insert several instances across a track-heavy project without the same resource cost that heavier processors would bring.
