01Overview

Session Ukulele brings three plucked string instruments into a single Kontakt library: a soprano ukulele, a tenor ukulele and a charango. Each instrument has its own set of sound presets and patterns. The library is built for producers who want bright, cheerful chords and plucks for pop, jingles and other feel-good material. Native Instruments created it together with Big Wave Audio, the developers behind several of the company's guitar and percussion libraries.

Three Ukulele and Charango Sounds

The library offers three instruments: the bright soprano ukulele, the warmer tenor ukulele and the charango, a small Bolivian lute-style instrument with a lively, distinct character. Native Instruments says the sounds were captured from instruments built by master luthiers in Hawaii and Bolivia.

Each instrument includes its own sound presets and patterns tuned to its tone, so you can start from a sound that already suits the part you are writing.

Strumming Patterns, Articulations and Mic Options

Session Ukulele includes 385 playable strumming and picking patterns. You can switch patterns in song presets during a performance, and the engine selects chord inversions it describes as the most natural. Patterns can also be dragged into your DAW for editing.

Articulation controls include slides, mutes, three types of finger vibrato, resonance controls and fret noises. You can choose one dynamic or two condenser microphone setups and add width with a doubling switch. Built-in effects cover delay, reverb, modulation, compression, EQ presets and lo-fi processing.

If you own a Kontrol S-Series keyboard, the Light Guide shows key ranges, articulations and techniques such as slides and mutes.
